Pharmacognostical studies are undertaken in this division with the objectives to evolve standards for single drugs and compound preparations in order to authenticate genuineness of the crude drugs of plant, mineral and animal origin. The study includes to highlight the morphological (macroscopical and microscopical) characters as distinguishing characters for authentication and identification purposes. This division also undertake medico-botanical survey tours in different agro-climatic zones of the country to collect medicinal plants for standardisation and reference standard samples for musium and herbarium.
